Surface is a folk pop, Hip-Hop song produced by Morg@n and mixed by Straight Free D. It is the second studio recorded single of Maje$tic Mindz after Midtro(remix). The song consists various elements of both rap and vocals provided by RAIN and featured artist Sylvie Hope, one of RAIN’s classmates and a brand new emerging artist who auditioned on The Voice. “What Surface means to me is valuing who you are. My part of the song is about accepting your "roses & thornes" and being your true self within relationships and friendships alike.
"I will not be surface with you" shows personal growth within my own life. Learn to love learning. Get outside. Surround yourself with people who are meaningful. People who bring you out of your surface level bubble and you do the same for them. Greenfield Community College's Outdoor Leadership Program really inspired a lot of my confidence. It made me value good friendships and the power of adventure” says Sylvie. The song was inspired by Mak Rodgers:Smile, as a way to have the album consist of more feel good songs. “The original concept for the song was "Best Day." I feel like a sense of accomplishment or truly reveling in happiness and positive energy, only really happens if you've been through difficulty. They say life begins outside of your comfort zone, but I think what that means is that you will never reach your highest highs without going through some sort of struggle.. Success, joy, peace, it isn't ever fully felt or appreciated without experiencing sadness, discomfort, fear or whatever challenges one may face... to travel through the thorns is the only way you'll find the rose” says RAIN.
